Erin Walsh

Erin Walsh is a Senior Vice President at American Global Strategies, where she co-leads the firm’s International Business Strategy Practice and advises clients on international affairs, geopolitical risk, trade, national security, and global market strategy. She brings deep expertise in business and cross-border strategy, U.S. commercial diplomacy, export promotion, foreign direct investment, and multilateral affairs. She has particular regional expertise across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.

Prior to joining American Global Strategies, Erin was a Senior Research Fellow in the Asia Studies Center at The Heritage Foundation.

From 2018 to 2021, Erin served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Africa and International Organizations at the National Security Council. In this role, she led interagency coordination and implementation of U.S. policy toward Africa and advanced U.S. interests at the United Nations and other multilateral venues.

Prior to joining the National Security Council, Erin served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets and Director General of the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service. In this role, she oversaw strategies to promote U.S. competitiveness through international trade, export promotion, advocacy, and inbound foreign direct investment.

Before returning to government service, Erin spent 12 years in the private sector at Goldman Sachs and Cisco. Her private sector experience included leadership roles focused on market development across Europe, the Indo-Pacific, and the Middle East, where she built and managed global teams and executed international business strategies.

Erin is a Fellow in the GeoStrategy Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and International Relations from Georgetown University and a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
