Marina Macklin
Vice President
Marina Macklin is a Vice President at American Global Strategies, where she supports the firm’s International Business Strategy, Economic Security & Energy Resilience, and Technology Policy & Artificial Intelligence Practice Groups and advises clients on issues at the intersection of national and economic security, including investment security, international economics, geopolitical risk, and technology policy. She works with clients to assess policy developments, navigate global regulatory environments, and develop engagement strategies across international markets and economic security matters.
Prior to joining American Global Strategies, Marina served as a Policy Advisor in the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Investment Security. In this role, she managed international engagement for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and advanced Treasury policy and regulatory objectives related to inbound and outbound investment security.
Marina also served at the U.S. Department of State in the Office of the Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security, where she supported policy matters related to international security and nonproliferation.
Before joining the Treasury Department, Marina spent nearly five years on the National Security Council staff, serving in the International Economics directorate, the Office of the Legal Advisor, and the Africa Affairs directorate. Her experience includes work on digital trade, international tax, China trade and non-market policies, EU and UK relationships, Africa-related economic and security issues, and broader economic security matters.
Marina began her government service at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, where she worked on trade promotion, bilateral trade and investment relationships, international market entry for U.S. firms, U.S. investment promotion, and industry analysis.
Marina graduated cum laude from Princeton University with an A.B. in History and a certificate in History and the Practice of Diplomacy. She was also a matriculated visiting student in the Department of History at Oxford University’s Oriel College.
