Nick Snyder
Senior Vice President
Nick Snyder is a Senior Vice President at American Global Strategies, where he co-leads the firm’s International Business Strategy Practice and advises clients on regional strategy, geopolitical risk, government engagement, development finance, and market dynamics, with particular expertise across the Indo-Pacific, Latin America, and emerging markets.
Nick brings 23 years of executive branch experience, including service as Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and Special Advisor for Asia and the Pacific to the Vice President. A distinguished member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, his career covered key relationships and policy objectives across multiple administrations. Most recently, he served as Chief of Staff to Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
Over the course of his career, Nick held numerous senior roles at the U.S. Department of State, including Director of the Office of Japanese Affairs, Deputy Coordinator of the Office of China Coordination, and Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy. He was also detailed as Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs.
Nick’s overseas postings included China, Singapore, Vietnam, Morocco, and New Zealand, where he frequently served as Acting Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission. Prior to joining the United States government, Nick worked as an M&A analyst at Dillon, Read & Co. Inc. and as a journalist.
Nick graduated magna cum laude in English and American Literature from Harvard University. He speaks French and functional Mandarin Chinese. He is a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute and the East-West Center, a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a founding member of the Meridian Center’s Rising Leaders Council, and a BMW Foundation Young Leader. He is also a recipient of multiple State Department Superior and Meritorious Honor Awards.
