Jason Chaffetz joined the firm as a Senior Advisor in 2025. He is also a contributor on Fox News and is a best-selling author of five books.

Chaffetz was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 2008 from the Third District of Utah and served until 2017. Chosen by his peers to be Chairman of the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee after just three terms in the House,  he oversaw the second largest committee in Congress and spearheaded some of the nation’s highest profile government investigations. During his tenure, Chaffetz led inquiries into the United States Secret Service, the Department of Education’s I.T. vulnerabilities, and the Benghazi terrorist attack, among others. He also created the first I.T. subcommittee, addressing procurement, regulations, privacy, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity.

In 2017, Chaffetz was a Harvard University Resident Fellow at the Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics. In 2021, he joined the Government Accountability Institute as a Distinguished Fellow. At the Heritage Foundation, Chaffetz is a Visiting Fellow focused on the Oversight Project. He also currently serves on the National Board of Advisors for the Freedom Festival based in Provo, Utah.

Prior to his congressional service, from 2003 – 2005 he was campaign manager and then Chief of Staff to Utah Governor Jon Huntsman. In 2006, Governor Huntsman appointed Chaffetz to serve on the Board of Trustees for Utah Valley State College, which transitioned to Utah Valley University during his tenure.

A former placekicker on the Brigham Young University football team, Chaffetz set five new school records, earned his BA in Communications in 1989, and then joined the local business community for 16 years. For the first ten years he worked in a variety of roles at Nu Skin Enterprises, including serving as General Manager in Australia and New Zealand, before forming his own marketing and consulting company prior to his public service.

Chaffetz and his wife Julie have been married since 1991 and have three adult married children and six grandchildren.
