AGS Chairman Ambassador Robert C. O’Brien joined activist and actor, Sean Penn – who he considers a dear friend – for a fireside chat with Jake Harriman at +More Perfect Union.
Their friendship, and the work they have done together seeking the release of Americans held hostage overseas, is a wonderful example of how Americans with differing views can come together for the betterment of our country.
O’Brien: “We’re a polarized country right now. But what we’ve got in common is we’re all Americans. And on the big issues, the things that really matter to this country, there’s a lot more in common that we’ve got that divides us… I’m not asking anyone to disregard their principles. Sean’s not going to disregard his principles. I’m not going to disregard my principles. We’re all on the same team. We’re on Team America. We’ve got to remember that.”
