Marvin Park is a national security, foreign policy, and defense specialist with over 25 years of experience in the U.S. government, specializing in Indo-Pacific security, strategic planning, and military affairs. He served in the White House, Department of Defense, and U.S. Navy, leading high-impact initiatives that shaped U.S. policy and defense posture in the region.

Most recently, Marvin served as Director for Taiwan Affairs on the National Security Council staff, where he led cross-agency efforts to strengthen U.S. strategic interests in the Indo-Pacific. In this role, he managed the U.S.-Taiwan relationship for the 2025 Taiwan election and inauguration and coordinated significant security assistance for Taiwan. He also developed a whole-of-society resilience framework to bolster Taiwan preparedness against PRC coercion.

Marvin deployed to the Middle East and Asia-Pacific multiple times with Patrol Squadron Nine and aboard USS Ronald Reagan; served as Flag Aide to Commander Naval Forces Korea (Seoul); and was a P-3C Naval Flight Officer Instructor in Jacksonville, Florida. He served multiple overseas tours collaborating with our allies and partners in Northeast Asia as the U.S. Navy liaison to the ROK Fleet Headquarters (Busan) and Naval Attache in Taipei, Taiwan. 

In the Pentagon, at the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and the Navy headquarters staff, Marvin managed the U.S.-ROK bilateral defense relationship, U.S.-ROK-Japan trilateral defense relationship, represented OSD and service equities to defense plans, and implemented U.S.-Taiwan defense policy. 

Marvin is a nonresident senior fellow in the Indo-Pacific Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in History and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University with a Master of Arts in International Relations. Marvin is from Southern California and grew up in Los Angeles and Long Beach.
